Stomp box

Low-cost, portable, guitar multi-effects processor

This example uses the MODEP software image from blokas.io which features the MOD DUO open-source audio effects emulation software by Mod Devices. Coupled with a low-cost audio/guitar USB interface, a very flexible, portable and affordable virtual stomp box can be created.

Hardware shown

  • Tablet Frame Kit for Raspberry Pi and Arduino, Model AZ8, by Novel Design Lab

  • Amazon Fire 8" tablet (2018)

  • Raspberry Pi 3

  • Behringer Uphoria UM-2 audio USB interface

  • Power supply for R-Pi: lithium battery expansion board "RPI Power Pack V1.2" with USB cable (v2.x not compatible)

  • 3-Ring Mini Binder, Logo, Kraft by Novel Design Lab

Software

Installed on Raspberry Pi:

  • Set up: follow the installation instructions at the link above. The software must be configured for the specific audio-USB interface (or audio HAT) used (the system will not work and MODEP server won't load if this configuration isn't done). See configuration instructions here: https://blokas.io/modep/docs/Sound-Card-Setup/

Installed on tablet:

  • Network browser app pre-installed on tablet (e.g. Silk, Chrome, etc.)
